Adding my two cents to the mega mesh mess surrounding transvaginal mesh complications…

Local teacher battles pain, federal bureaucracy

Sharing this recent news article, “Local teacher battles pain, federal bureaucracy“, which shows the devastation hernia mesh can cause, and the injustices taking place:

Reacting to jolting pain, Bob Sprankle squeezes a ball and withdraws from conversation in the room he spends most of his time in. Sprankle, once a vibrant, energetic and award-winning teacher, suffers from chronic nerve pain from complications from polypropylene mesh used during an operation in 2007. Deb Cram/Seacoastonline

“It takes Bob Sprankle at least 15 minutes to climb the stairs, go to the bathroom and return to his chair in the room he spends all day in on the first floor. Using a cane to keep his balance, he suffers from a chronic nerve pain condition that is a reaction from using polypropylene mesh during a simple operation in 2007. The former Maine Technology Teacher of the Year lives with the debilitating condition and has been denied disability payments from Maine PERS, which he paid into for 17 years and he is ineligible for Social Security disability.”
